Prepare your handover notes, Dickson tells appointees

Bayelsa State Governor, Mr. Seriake Dickson, has directed his commissioners and other political appointees to prepare their handover notes in preparation for his transition to second tenure.
The directive issued after a meeting with political appointees and contained in a circular to state Commissioners and Special Advisers, directed that the handover notes should be ready by January 15.
However, investigation showed that while many of the commissioners have yet to comply with the directive, other appointees, including Senior Special Assistants, Special Advisers and new appointees were worried over their statuses as aides of the governor.
It was learnt that while the directive is seen as an attempt to appraise performance during the just-concluded governorship election, it is also to reappraise the need for those to be re-appointed.
It was further gathered that while some aides were injured and their properties destroyed during the election, others were discovered to have collected mobilization money and refused to work for the Peoples Democratic Party.
Also to be considered before re-appointment, it was gathered, was the issues of performance and successes recorded in the units where the political appointees hail from.
It was gathered that the decision to dissolve the State Executive Council and relieve some appointees of their duties as aides is a routine directive meant to restructure the administration ahead of the second tenure in office.
The Commissioner for Information, Esueme Dan-Kikile, while confirming the development, simply said the report on the directive was true.
However, “We were asked to prepare our handover note in preparation for the transition.”
